| Felipe Massa set the pace this morning with a best time of 1:12.305s, two-tenths clear of title rival Lewis Hamilton. Both pushed hard to get the early psychological advantage, but it was the Brazilian who emerged on top on home soil. |

Robert Kubica was a strong fourth fastest for BMW Sauber but was half a second shy of Massa’s ultimate pace. Heikki Kovalainen was next up and another tenth adrift in the second McLaren Mercedes ahead of Fernando Alonso, Mark Webber, Nelson Piquet, Nick Heidfeld and Timo Glock. |
