| 12.32 | Qualifying was predominantly dry yesterday with only Honda complaining that the brief rain shower hindered their qualifying efforts. Today, we have a wet race ahead and based on the GP2 race this morning, it should be most entertaining. |
| 12.34 | Heikki Kovalainen starts the British Grand Prix from his first career pole position. A great lap from the McLaren driver saw him take the top position by half a second from his nearest rival. With just 20 points scored so far, Kovalainen needs his first win if he is to be a serious player in the championship battle. |
| 12.36 | Mark Webber starts second in the Red Bull Renault, the first time a Red Bull car has started a Grand Prix from the front row of the grid. Webber admits it will be hard to retain the position in the race itself, but will be looking for a points haul to add to his already impressive tally of 18. |
| 12.38 | Ferrari did not seem strong yesterday which was a surprise given its recent record at Silverstone. Raikkonen however still starts third and cannot be discounted. The F2008 has been the class of the field for much of the season, so expect Raikkonen to be challenging for the race win if the team has found a balance on the car. |
| 12.40 | Lewis Hamilton starts fourth and has not looked as comfortable with his McLaren as Kovalainen has. Hamilton has been very fast in the first two sectors of the lap, but the complex has proved a difficulty. Like Raikkonen however, Hamilton remains a factor for the win and cannot be discounted. |
| 12.42 | Nick Heidfeld starts fifth in his BMW Sauber as he looks to end what has been a poor run of events. Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet start sixth and seventh for Renault and will be aiming for points this afternoon. |
| 12.44 | Sebastian Vettel’s qualifying form was superb on Saturday as he lines up eighth in the Toro Rosso Ferrari. Given the right track conditions, we know Vettel can spring a surprise. Team-mate Sebastien Bourdais starts a solid 13th. |
| 12.46 | Felipe Massa ran out of time to make his final run in qualifying yesterday and therefore starts ninth. The Brazilian showed his pace prior to his accident on Friday, but starting ninth will make it tough to challenge for the race win in normal circumstances. |
| 12.48 | Robert Kubica has some kind of issue with his BMW Sauber in qualifying and did not set a time in Q3. The team has not said what the issue is but Kubica has shown he can race though the pack given the opportunity. |
| 12.50 | David Coulthard starts 11th in the second Red Bull ahead of Timo Glock in the leading Toyota. Jarno Trulli starts 14th in the second TF108 just behind Bourdais. |
| 12.52 | Williams has not shown well this weekend with Kazuki Nakajima and Nico Rosberg qualifying 15th and 18th. Rosberg is to start the race from the pit lane after suspension issues had to be rectified. Williams traditionally run very long first stints if they qualify poorly. |
| 12.54 | Honda split the Williams duo in qualifying with Rubens Barrichello starting 16th just ahead of Jenson Button. The final positions on the grid belong to Force India with Adrian Sutil just ahead of Giancarlo Fisichella. |
| 12.56 | With the on-off rains, there is no question of starting on a dry tyre. It remains to be seen who will run the intermediate tyre and who will run the full wet tyre. |
| 12.58 | The drivers are all in the cars awaiting the one minute siren and the tyre warmers to be removed. |
| 12.59 | The siren sounds, engines fire up and the grid in now starting to clear. |

| Lap 12 | Sutil was 12th and gone off into Abbey and is in the gravel trap. |
| Lap 13 | Webber is now ahead of Barrichello. |
| Lap 13 | Sutil just lost it under braking and was lucky not to take out Bourdais as well. |
