| Yesterday was a mixed day in terms of weather conditions, but it was Felipe Massa that recorded the fastest time of the day in the dull and overcast conditions of the first practice session. Massa set a best lap of 1:47.284s in his Ferrari, three-tenths clear of team-mate Kimi Raikkonen. |

| The afternoon session saw a brief rain shower and in the final minutes of the session Fernando Alonso moved fastest for Renault with a best time of 1:48.454s, just a fraction of a second ahead of Massa on this occasion. Practice times can mean little, but it is clear that Massa is strong once again this weekend. |

| It was a tough afternoon for Raikkonen who backed his F2008 into the tyre wall in the afternoon at turn nine. He will now be playing catch-up in this final practice session after losing most of the second session. But has proven to be something of a 'Spa-master' over the years. |
