| This morning Sebastian Vettel topped the timesheets with a best time of 1:40.496s. Toro Rosso Ferrari team-mate Sebastien Bourdais was fourth fastest in what was a very encouraging session for the Italian-based team albeit on a new tyre run. |

| Felipe Massa was piped for the top position on Vettel’s final lap of the session, by less than two-tenths of a second. Lewis Hamilton was third fastest despite a spin. Heikki Kovalainen was fifth in the second McLaren Mercedes. |

| Robert Kubica again led the way at BMW Sauber with the sixth fastest time with Nick Heidfeld down in 16th position some 1.2 seconds off Kubica’s pace. Kimi Raikkonen was seventh fastest but looked strong in the Ferrari despite the time. |
