| The usual order was a little different yesterday with Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button posting the second and third fastest times for Renault and Honda. As ever in practice, some will have gone for a simulated qualifying lap and some not. Still, it was an overnight boost for the two teams as they prepare for qualifying. |

| Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen set the fifth and sixth fastest times respectively for McLaren and stated they were happy with the MP4-23 package. Timo Glock, seventh fastest, was also very content with the first day of running in his Toyota. |
